UAE Visa Photo from Pakistan (43x55mm, White)

UAE visa photos are 43x55 mm (4.3 x 5.5 cm) with a plain white background, following the ICAO biometric standard enforced by ICP (the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) and GDRFA in Dubai. The same 43x55 mm white-background spec covers work, visit, tourist, and residence visas. Pakistani NADRA passport photos are 35x45 mm and often use an off-white background, so they are usually not accepted as-is for UAE applications.

For Pakistani applicants the two most common reasons are the background and the digital format. NADRA passport photos use an off-white or light tint that the UAE reads as not pure white, so it gets bounced. For online submission the photo should be around 300 x 369 px (or at least 600 x 600 px), saved as JPEG or PNG, on a true white background. The third reason is size: a 35x45 mm NADRA photo instead of the 43x55 mm UAE size.

Plain pure white only, with no shadow behind the head, no pattern, and no object in frame. The face should fill roughly 70 to 80 percent of the photo from chin to crown, with a neutral expression, mouth closed, both eyes open and visible, and no glasses. A head covering worn for religious reasons is allowed as long as the full face from chin to forehead stays visible.

Pakistani workers emigrating for employment must be cleared by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE) through the Protector of Emigrants, usually via a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP). The same 43x55 mm white-background photo is used across the visa application, the Protector registration, the Emirates ID enrolment, and the medical fitness test. Carry several printed copies plus a clean digital JPEG, so you are not re-shooting at every step.

Three options: (1) the OEP or agency photo service, convenient but priced at a premium and not always white-background correct. (2) A local studio at PKR 150 to 500, but you must say "UAE visa, 43x55 mm, plain white background, give me the digital copy too" because most studios default to the 35x45 mm NADRA size with an off-white backdrop. The photo standard across all six is the same ICAO biometric base: a recent colour photo on a plain white background with the face clearly visible. A 43x55 mm white-background photo that passes UAE today is the safe format to prepare for the unified system as it rolls out.
