Frequently Asked Questions
What size is a Canadian PR Card photo?
Canadian Permanent Resident Card photos are 50×70 mm (5×7 cm, 2×2¾ inches) with plain white background — same format as Canadian passport. NOTE: this is for the PR Card production (after PR is approved). The initial PR application (Express Entry, PNP, family sponsorship) requires a different photo at 35×45 mm.
Is the PR Card photo the same as the Canada visa application photo?
No. PR Card production requires 50×70 mm. PR Application (Express Entry initial application) and all other Canada visa applications (visitor / TRV, study, work permit) require 35×45 mm. Use 50×70 mm only when you already have your PR approved and are receiving / renewing the physical card.
Can I use the same photo for my passport and PR Card?
If you are a Canadian citizen with PR history — passport requires 50×70 mm. PR Card requires 50×70 mm. Same format. But citizen status means you no longer need a PR Card. If you are a current PR — use 50×70 mm.
Can I wear glasses?
No. IRCC prohibited glasses in Canadian biometric photos since 2016.
Is my photo uploaded to your servers?
No. All processing happens in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
