Frequently Asked Questions

What is the photo size for a UK BRP or eVisa?

UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and eVisa photos are 35×45mm with a plain white background — unlike UK passport/visa which accept cream or light grey. The Home Office requires pure white for BRP and eVisa records.

Who needs a UK BRP or eVisa photo?

International students on Student visa, skilled workers on Skilled Worker visa, family-route applicants (spouse, partner, parent), Health and Care Worker visa holders, Global Talent visa holders, and anyone already in the UK with a residence permit transitioning to the eVisa system (which UKVI is rolling out across 2025-2026 to replace physical BRP cards).

I am transitioning from physical BRP to eVisa — do I need a new photo?

The UKVI eVisa transition typically uses your existing biometric record on file. However, if you are renewing or your previous photo is older than 6 months, you may need a fresh photo. Check your specific UKVI eVisa account migration notice for instructions.

Can I wear glasses?

No. UK biometric photos do not permit glasses for any document — passport, visa, BRP, or eVisa.

Is the BRP photo the same as my UK Standard Visitor visa photo?

Similar but not identical. Both are 35×45mm with biometric rules, but BRP requires plain white background while UK Standard Visitor visa accepts cream or light grey. Pick BRP if you are applying for a UK residence permit.

Is my photo uploaded to your servers?

No. All processing happens in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
