Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a Saudi Iqama photo?

Saudi Iqama (residence permit) photos are 40×60 mm (4×6 cm), the same biometric format used for the Saudi national ID. Required by the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) for issuance, renewal, and photo updates via the Absher portal.

I am an Indian / Pakistani / Bangladeshi / Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia renewing my Iqama — does this tool work?

Yes. Iqama photo requirements are the same regardless of nationality. Foreign workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, the Philippines, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and elsewhere all submit the 40×60 mm biometric photo through Absher. This tool exports a JPEG sized for the portal upload, processed in the browser with no signup.

Can women wear a hijab in the Iqama photo?

Yes. A hijab is permitted as long as the face is fully visible from forehead to chin. The same rule applies to other religious head coverings; the photo must show identifying facial features clearly.

Does Saudi Arabia accept AI-edited or retouched photos for the Iqama?

No. Jawazat and Absher portal guidance reject photos that have been modified by image-editing software. IDPhotoSnap only crops the image and replaces the background with the required plain colour - no skin smoothing, no relighting, no beautification - which keeps the photo within what Jawazat accepts.

Where do I submit the Iqama renewal photo?

Through the Absher portal (absher.sa) or the Absher mobile app — the standard digital channel for Iqama renewal in 2026. Employers usually process renewals on behalf of workers via the Muqeem business portal; in either case the photo upload follows the same 40×60 mm spec.

How recent must the Iqama photo be?

The photo must have been taken within the last 6 months and reflect your current appearance. Jawazat may reject photos that look significantly older than the holder.

Is the Iqama photo the same as a Saudi passport photo?

Same dimensions (40×60 mm). The background for the Iqama on Absher is a plain light colour; double-check the exact tone shown on your Absher upload page, as the portal accepts plain light backgrounds within a small range.

Is my photo uploaded to your servers?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser via WebAssembly. Your photo never reaches a server — verifiable in browser DevTools Network tab.
